Picture
A brilliant evening at the Petergate Tap in Stockport to launch Empress Publishing's Landscapes Anthology
A great anthology edited by Margaret Holbrook
A pleasure to read my three poems from  the anthology and hear the excellent readings from fellow contributors

Aldgedeslegh

an epic poem about events relating to the parish of Audley

No parish is free from its stories of death and misery, Audley is no exception, the underlying motives for the events recounted in this poem are universal and could be transported to any time and any place.

The poem addresses the ever-present spectre of Death who, residing at the parish bounds, readily accepts any invitation to visit, whether by the call of Lust, the pursuit of Power, the drive for Profit or the opportunity to renew acquaintance with his oldest friend Revenge.

The four stories within the poem move on through time, carrying  with them the underlying link of untimely and violent  death, the payment for the price of our imperfect humanity in an imperfect world.

Reading a book during launch is the dream for me. I mean, I am not one to go and interact with people. I am surely not saying that it is bad, but I just prefer reading a book. I think that reading books is what is going to help me learn more about the world. I have my good books with me, and I just want to go and keep reading them until the die that I die, that is what I want to do.
